While insurance may partially or fully cover reconstructive surgery, it does not cover cosmetic surgery.
The level of pain and discomfort involved in every surgery varies between one procedure and the other, and thus, different methods of anesthetizing are required. The type of anesthesia administered is determined based on your preferences in terms of personal pain threshold and comfort.
For non-invasive surgeries, topical anesthetic is used, while minor invasive surgeries require local anesthetic sometimes combined with sedation. As for invasive surgeries, they call for general anesthesia.
